Never Would I Have Considered Myself a Missionary

Written by Tyler Tom | 6 Jul 2018
Well, I don’t know about you
But I’m sick and tired of life with no desire
I don’t want a flame, I want a fire and
I wanna be the one who stands up and says
“I’m gonna do something”
Quite honestly, I didn’t think I’d be here. Never in a whole heap of years would I ever have considered myself a missionary, let alone one living in Texas as a part of YWAM Tyler!

God has His ways of making us so radically, wonderfully unique - yet all with something in common — free choice. We can all choose to do something or not to do something. Right? We can choose to go somewhere or not go somewhere. It’s crazy to think about the amount of decisions we make on a daily, hourly, or minute span of time.

If I could say anything about the last year of my life with YWAM Tyler, I’d say this:

Choosing the path of going where God leads me is not the easiest. No, by far it sometimes seems the most challenging. But you know what it is? It’s this:

The most rewarding, fulfilling, joy-giving, profound, growing, stretching, loving, and ultimately incredible life anyone could ever live.

It doesn’t have to be with a missions organization like YWAM; it doesn’t have to be just the big decisions. God cares about every little detail of who you are and what you do. He is the most loving and intelligent Being in the entire universe.

The last year has had hardships; mountains that seemed unending to climb, and valleys that seemed so dark. Yet, life isn’t about the destination. It’s about the journey - WITH JESUS. Jesus makes everything doable. Even the hardest days where giving up was the appealing choice, Jesus says, With Me, you can walk through this. On your own, you will fall.

So today, as a new chapter in this season of life begins - as it is everyday, I hope you see that there is HOPE. There is always time to seek the Lord and go where He directs you.

It doesn’t take a genius mind to have a relationship with the greatest Abba Father. He’s never left you standing on your own.
