MISSION'S STORIES

Publishing God's stories among the nations.

Ron Moyer wasn't expecting life-changing guidance when he looked at a map of the world, but that’s exactly what happened. His gaze settled on a seemingly obscure country in Asia. Mongolia had captured his attention. Before he knew it, the Holy Spirit said, “One day you're going to live there.” As he and his wife, Evelyn, prayed, it became very clear that God was calling them there. In 1992, they left the States and arrived in Ulaanbaatar, the capital. It was a time of major adjustments; besides dealing with subzero winter temps and unfamiliar food, they also faced hazards like stolen manhole covers on the streets as they raised their growing family.

From the very beginning, God drew people to them. Their language tutor was their first convert. Another young man became their driver, and not only did he find Jesus, but he is now a primary missionary leader. Loren Cunningham spearheaded the vision to equip every home in Mongolia with a Bible. It started in 2019 with 70 teams from 30 nations beginning the effort. Ywam Tyler sent another team this summer to help complete the task. The team helped a local pastor plant three new churches. 21 states (or provinces) have been reached with the word of God. Will you pray for the release of strategy and provision to finish what God has started? Local believers aim to have 20 mobile teams that can find the more than 300,000 nomadic families across the steppes and present the Gospel to them. Ulaanbaatar, with its population of over 1.6 million, will require God-given strategy.

Every family that received a Bible was invited to a meeting to learn more about Jesus. The team shared things from American culture that the Mongols found highly entertaining. A line-dancing demonstration and one team member's “beatboxing” skills received rave reviews. The team also helped build a yurt for a church to hold meetings.

When Mongols are asked if they have ever heard of Jesus, they respond with, “Who is that?” One woman said she had seen videos of people being healed, and she asked, “Is that your God?” She had severe pain in her back and knee; as the team prayed for her, it was much better. She told one of the team members, “The next time I see you, I will run to you.” Another woman was very downcast due to her husband and her son being in the throes of alcoholism, a prominent problem there. They spent a lot of time praying and ministering to her and invited her to the meeting that night. She was the first one to respond to the altar call. Another woman had a severe black eye after being butted by a goat. They prayed, and she came to the meeting that night to show how quickly her eye had improved.

Will you pray about going to Mongolia? The harvest is ripe. Every summer, YWAM Tyler sends a team there to reach the unreached. Will you be a part of giving them their first Bible? Will you lay hands on people and see them healed?
