Hope for the Next Generation

Ready for the next wave of missionaries?

I was born in 2003, and I am proud to be a part of Gen Z.

I believe Gen Z holds the potential to release a catalytic revival within the body of Christ.

One thing some people like to associate with my generation is that we do nothing but put tide pods in our mouths, and that we are scared of face to face interaction because we are consumed with technology.

Our modern day media tries to sell us a tainted message⏤Just do you, focus on yourself, and do what makes you happy, and now we have a major problem...

We are constantly searching.

We are searching for something bigger than ourselves.

We are searching for something that has more meaning than a 9⎼5 job.

In the end, the people in Gen Z who do not know the Lord or do not embrace the identity that has been given to them through Him suffer because of their constant searching. It seems as if the enemy can jump in quickly to fill their ears with lies before they can decide or are ready to fill them with truth.

When they listen to what he says, the outcome is that they end up depressed, suicidal or adapt their lives to the nowadays saying⏤figuring out your true self.

If we point them in the correct direction to have a real encounter with God, I believe there is no doubt they will be sold out.

In reality, they need to be shown there’s a God who has already given them an identity and when they take a step in the right direction there will be fulfillment.

They need to know there is inner fulfillment in being obedient to what God called us to do.

All they need is an invitation. An invite to sit at the table. And that my friends is our job.

Lastly, I’m not calling anyone or anything old or outdated, obviously older generations need to be reached as well. However, we need to see a change from how things have been. How people are being reached and how the gospel is being presented to younger generations.

Gen Z doesn't need to be spoon fed, but they also don’t need our opinions, even if it's the truth, shoved down their throat. If it changes someone’s forever, does it have to look a certain way each time?

All in all, if we want to have revival and see the Great Commission come to completion, we need Gen Z with their energy, motivated mindsets, willingness. They aren’t afraid to challenge others' feelings in a loving way, as they seek life changing wild adventures.

We have potential, we have a great probability, and we have a fresh perspective. And that is what Gen Z embodies⏤no matter what the stereotypes say.

We need a refreshment of the Holy Spirit, and I believe Gen Z will see revival!

If you ages 18-25 you are Generation Z. Now is your chance to live with purpose, travel internationally, and build the deepest friendships with God and others. Sign Up for DTS!

Written by Duncan Zadrapa

Hey! My name is Duncan and I'm from a small town in the suburbs of Houston. I grew up going to church amongst a tiny Southern Baptist congregation, and that's where my love of Jesus began. Now, I'm a full-time missionary with YWAM, and I have a deep passion for understanding the intimacy of God through worship, and fostering what discipleship looks like outside the boundaries of the "2 days-a-week Christian".
