My phone buzzed on silent mode in my pocket while I was busy just doing normal old stuff. But that vibrating buzz alarms me everytime. Glancing at the shortened notification on my homescreen I saw the first line, "… I heard the Gospel for the first time." It was from Glenn. Glenn reminds me of speaker Bob Goff, the writer of Love Does, because he lights up the room wherever he's at and makes you feel like you're the boss. I was honored to be on the list of umptine friends in his contacts⏤my name and number got the text.
After reading the text, I asked Glenn if we could post his short testimony as a blog. Of course he was open to do so and with that, here's his short story of what happened when he found Jesus, or better yet, when Jesus found him.
"50 years ago, I heard the Gospel for the first time. Someone asked if I were to die in a car crash where would I go to spend eternity? I didn’t know. But God gave me revelation to understand that if I didn’t know that I was going to go to heaven, then I was on the road to hell. What a shock that was!"
"Immediately on the spot, I asked Jesus to become the LORD of my life. Thanks to the grace of God, I've never looked back. I've been active in full-time missions work as a volunteer missionary with YWAM for almost 43 years and have no plans to slow down anytime soon. If anything, I find life getting fuller and more active, with more people to reach, ha! What an amazing thing God did to save a wretch like me. I'm eternally grateful for His glorious Rescue!"
"In my weekly men’s Bible study recently, I shared my story and gave $50 to each person. I told them that spending $50 will go by quickly…and so does 50 years. It’s hard to believe how fast it has gone! I encouraged each of the men to serve God faithfully in whatever time He gives us because life is short and people matter."
After reading his message, I slid my iPhone back into my pocket and went about my day a little happier, a little more light hearted. Jesus rescued my friend Glenn and gave him courage to do amazing things in and through his life. I hope this testimony lightens your spirit knowing Jesus still saves.
