Something amazing happens when people assemble to exalt the name of Jesus. God moves and transforms lives. Over the past five years, many have gathered at YWAM Tyler for the Inspire Worship & Missions Conference. It's encouraging to hear how this event has made an impact on people.

You've come to East Texas to do your DTS and are pumped about all God has in store for you. Then you discover you didn't pack something you needed, and it was something you didn't even think of! Man, if only someone had told you beforehand!  

You're an ordinary young person. You've checked off some educational boxes and are now trying to figure out some kind of direction for your life. The idea that God might be calling you into a life of radical missions seems too far-fetched to even warrant consideration. Only special people become missionaries, right? Wrong!

 A few weeks ago, sitting in the office of my probation officer, we began a conversation much like we do each visit, about current global events/disasters/atrocities, which inevitably leads to the big question, “What really is God’s perspective on it all?”

I believe poverty has no place in the Kingdom of God. Scripture tells us that the Church's mandate to preach the gospel also includes meeting the needs of the poor.

In recent years God has been stirring my heart with the desire to develop low-cost, space-efficient housing to meet the needs of people in impoverished communities around the globe. This has led me to develop a revolutionary house design, which I have now built as a prototype in the AgTech department of YWAM Tyler.

Christmas memorialises the greatest mission-trip of all time. This was a long-term assignment, a to-the-death calling, an irrevocable vocation. From beginning to end, Christmas is about God's mission to redeem His dying people, and He chose the most extraordinary strategy imaginable to accomplish this: becoming "God Incarnate."

It’s a sweltering humid day as we pull up in the street amid piles of rubble. The homeowners, an older Hispanic couple, approach us with shy friendly smiles and greet us in their best faltering English. Their front door sits wide open, inviting us to enter their North-East Houston home.

 I glanced at the calendar with a curious and excited look on my face. Two and a half months!? That seemed like an age! I sighed and closed my laptop, glancing once more at the calendar hanging on the wall before me. "Lord, if this is you, make a way and provide for it all. I'm going to need finances!" That was April 17th, 2017. 

We pulled our rental car into the parking lot of this sleepy property in the rolling green hills of rural New Zealand. My four kids and I tumbled out with our pile of suitcases and looked around. It was 2013, and we had arrived to begin a Family Discipleship Training School (DTS), our first step into the big wide world of missions.

I sat down in the living room after tuning the dial on our television set to the number my Dad requested. Before remote controls you actually had to get up and dial turn the selector to the station you desired. The picture showed a man standing on a platform with literally hundreds of thousands of people listening to what he was talking about. I was only five years old. The man speaking on the TV was Billy Graham.

Can a divorced person dare to be a missionary? More importantly, can a divorced single mother of 4 children go and bring her children with her? Although there was a time I would have asked that common question, I now would have to ask: “Can a divorce mother afford NOT to bring her kids into a missionary community such as ours?” The change for me came from meeting several families who are doing just that here in Youth with a Mission.
